Knight Templar 1/4 Plate Daguerreotype In Exquisite Union Case Rare Image

  
We are offering a RARE 1/4 plate daguerreotype of a Knight Templar dressed in full regalia in a beautiful union case. The daguerreotype still has its original seals intact. The Templar Knight is in a standing pose, wearing the apron with skull and bones on it, sash, hat and gauntlets (gloves). The fringe and emblem on his apron; the emblems and fringe on the edge of his sash; the crosses and edging on his gauntlets; the emblem on his hat; and his shirt collar had all been tinted white so they stand out nicely, and touches of red had been appropriately placed.

His cheeks had also been tinted pink. The union case has a depiction, in high relief, of a woman sitting on her horse in the woods with her riding crop and dog lying on the ground beside her. Her head rests on her arm and she appears to be deep in thought.

In the distance on the road heading towards her is a figure on a horse - we assume a gentleman she had pre-arranged to meet in the woods. The same depiction is on both sides of the case. CONDITION: Daguerreotype is in Beautiful Condition. The Union Case is also in Beautiful Condition, with a small chip on the side and a tiny nick on the other side.
